Working on it -- just landed the fix that moves this behavior to the adapter. Want to land a couple of other things over my new year's break and cut a new release (potentially 2.0?).

Hey @derekprior I have a suggestion: maybe you could create a tag for a beta version with this functionality while working on a new release? I want to contribute by testing this functionality in a couple of projects, but I don't want to add master branch to my Gemfile, for obvious reasons. So a new tag with just the current stable release code + this PR would be ideal. Makes sense?
